Large Print Print E-mail

Member libraries share the CTLS collection of more than 3,000 large print books through both a circuit and a deposit collection program. The circulation of large print books increases the variety of reading materials available to visually impaired patrons.

Large Print Circuit Rotation on September 5th!

8/22/08
Please don’t forget to send your Large Print Circuit Books to your partner library on September 5th!  If you have questions on where to send your Circuit Books, please contact the CTLS office. Start collecting the circuit books one circulation period before hand. You don't have to wait until you receive your new circuit books to mail your books! Mail them on the rotation date or call your partner library and arrange to get the books to them within a week. If all the books have not been returned, call your partner and let them know when you expect the missing books and when you will send them.

If you keep a deposit collection, leave it on the shelf. Deposit collections never move at circuit rotation time.

Please do not fill the shortfall with deposit or other books. Send what you have of the circuit packet in the circuit boxes it came in to your partner library on the mailing date and send the stragglers to your partner in any box that will hold them when they are returned to you.  When you get your new collection, look through them! If you find any damaged or out-of-date (3 years or older) books, return them to CTLS and we will replenish.

If your packet doesn’t arrive within two weeks of the rotation date, contact your partner library. If they are unable to get the books to you in a week, call CTLS so that we can make arrangements to get the books back from your partner.

Finally, the only way that we can prove the popularity of this program is if you report your circulation statistics. Please don’t forget to report your circulation statistics at the end of each month by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . You can also fax in your statistics at 512-583-0709 or call CTLS at 800-262-4431.

5 for 5 Large Print Circuit

11/20/2006
CTLS is working on weeding and updating the Large Print Circuit Collections. Our goal is for each Circuit packet to contain only RECENT books (i.e. copyright 3 years ago or less). We have lots of great books here in the office, waiting for your patrons!

We want the older books back, to reprocess for replacement Deposit Collections. Many of the Deposit Collections should be swapped out this year, for more recent titles. And the way we get new books for the Deposit collections is to retire Circuit books which are no longer recent.

So we’d like to swap 5 new books for 5 you already have in your circuit packet. You should swap out not only worn or damaged books, but also books published before 2004, and titles which are just not circulating.

If you mail 5 Large Print Circuit books to CTLS, we’ll swap them for 5 new ones. Remember, this applies ONLY to Circuit, not Deposit books. If you want to switch out your entire Deposit collection, call Andrea Golden at (800) 262-4431 X 10 and she’ll tell you what to do.

We’re excited to be able to offer these fabulous books to your customers. There are lots of great new titles - mysteries, romance, suspense/thrillers, westerns and a good selection of general fiction by well-known authors. So don’t hesitate; send us your gently aged & worn Circuit books - you won’t be sorry!
