The Texas Library Association’s annual Library Snapshot Day celebration is officially scheduled for October 31, but libraries can select any day in October as their Snapshot Day. This event offers libraries a framework for promoting services, inviting the public and media to the library, and capturing important information that can be used in advocacy and promotional materials.
TLA’s official Snapshot Day website – www.texaslibrarysnapshotday.org – has resources (e.g., a sample press release, customer/student input forms, instructions for submitting final data and uploading photographs, video/photo permissions form, tips for using the information, and much more!).
Thanks to Gloria Meraz at TLA for this information.
At the TLA Conference this past week, Pat received the TLA Distinguished Service Award. We are so proud of her! This award recognizes substantial demonstration of leadership to the profession. For over 30 years, Patricia Tuohy has provided outstanding leadership for the Central Texas Library System, a system that has grown from 37 to 80 libraries during her tenure. She has also held a number of diverse TLA responsibilities, most notably serving as the Local Arrangements chair for Legislative Day in Austin since it began in the 1980s. Congratulations, Pat, for this well-deserved recognition!
On April 13 the Texas Library Association recognized the work that Susan Mann – Hillsboro City Library- has done on behalf of all libraries in Texas.
Susan received the Distinguished Service to Libraries from TLA at its Annual Conference in Austin Texas. Susan has worked tirelessly to increase state aid for public library programs during ever session of the Texas Legislature since 1991. The award was presented to Susan by State Representative Jim Pitts who took time off from his very busy schedule to announce the award before the 3000+ librarians gathered for the 1st General Session of the Conference.
Shown here are Representative Jim Pitts, Susan Mann, and Beth Fox, Director of the Westbank Community Library District. Beth was instrumental in nominating Susan for this very prestigious award. Congratulations to Susan for her wonderful work on behalf of libraries all over the state.
